‘Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ Staffers Detained in Capitol

A field production team for “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” was detained in the Capitol on June 16 after filming comedy segments for the CBS late-night show.
CBS confirmed that an incident occured with the Capitol Police whereas a manufacturing crew to assist the foul-mouthed puppet character Triumph the Insult Comedian Canine have been on a licensed location shoot in Congress.
Among the many seven folks arrested was Robert Smigel, the author and comic behind Triumph the Insult Comedian Canine.
The Capitol Police stated in a press release {that a} crew was detained within the Longworth Home Workplace Constructing at 8:30 p.m. on June 16 when the group was discovered “unescorted and with out Congressional ID, in a sixth-floor hallway.”
The assertion continued, “The constructing was closed to guests, and these people have been decided to be part of a bunch that had been directed by the USCP to go away the constructing earlier within the day. The incident comes amid heightened safety and rigidity within the halls of Congress as hearings into the riot by former President Donald Trump’s supporters that ensued within the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. The U.S. Capitol Police didn’t instantly return a name looking for remark.
Smigel and his caustic canine character gained fame beginning within the late Nineteen Nineties via his appearances on NBC’s “Saturday Night time Reside” and “Late Night time With Conan O’Brien.”
